Emery is hopeful Arsenals history can convince big player’s to join the club despite another season without Champions League football

Arsenal face a third consecutive season without Champions League football and manager Unai Emery faces a tough job chasing new faces as a result.They have not won a league title since 2004, but the manager is hopeful of the club’s name is still a big enough draw and could use their past success to point to a potentially bright future.History doesnt win you anything. One player, Im telling you, you put [Virgil] van Dijk in that back four at the moment, the way that the team is set up without the ball it wouldnt make much difference.”Van Dijk, who joined Liverpool for 75m in January 2018 has developed into one of the world’s best defenders and was named Player of the Year by his fellow footballers.The Reds, who finished second with 97 points, conceded just 22 goals all season, but Dixon believes it will take a lot more than one star name to dig them out of a hole.
